Strider Bike Instructor

Position Summary, Duties and Responsibilities

Apex Park and Recreation District is seeking a passionate and energetic Strider Bike Instructor to lead our Strider Bike Program for children ages 2–5. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children, understands child development, and is enthusiastic about helping kids build confidence and large motor skills through biking.

The Strider Bike program is a learn-to-ride camp that teaches kids of all abilities how to ride on two wheels. Upon Completion, children will have the balance and bike handling skills to ride on two wheels.

• Key Responsibilities
• Facilitate Program Curriculum
• Engage and provide age-appropriate biking lessons and activities
• Implement lesson plans that promote safety, fun, and skill development
• Provide a safe and creative learning environment for young children
• Perform basic bike maintenance and safety checks
• Lead games and activities that support large motor movement and coordination
• Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff
  
  Support general childcare-related tasks as needed

• Must be 18 years old
• Basic knowledge of bike safety and maintenance
• Strong communication and active listening skills
• Ability to instruct and motivate young children with patience and compassion
• Understanding of child development and imaginative play
• Energetic, creative, and enthusiastic about outdoor activities

• No specific education requirement. All levels welcome.
• Experience working with children ages 2–5 in a recreational or educational setting

The noise level in the environment is moderate to loud. Work will mostly be performed in a school gym setting but may occasionally be moved outside where exposure to sun and weather is likely.

Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
