Senior Accountant

Company: Lowtemp Industries

Lowtemp Industries is a growing manufacturing and distribution company in Denver focused on precision solventless extraction equipment for cannabis and adjacent markets. We’re scaling our finance operations and need an experienced Senior Accountant to own month‑end close, reconciliations, sales tax coordination, and financial controls while working closely with the CEO/Director of Operations.

Reports to: CEO / Director of Operations (or designated finance leader)

Work model: Hybrid (Arvada‑based). Colorado‑remote considered with onsite onboarding and semi‑regular in‑person work days (5–10+ days/month)

Employment type: Full‑time, salaried

Compensation range: $75,000–$95,000 per year (base salary), depending on experience and capabilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Own monthly close and prepare journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations (bank, AR, AP, credit cards, inventory, loans).
  • Reconcile Shopify/commerce platform activity to the GL in QBO; maintain deferred revenue and sales deferrals.
  • Manage commissions and royalty calculations and monthly close tagging/validation.
  • Coordinate multi‑state sales tax prefiling cleanup, filings, notices, and nexus tracking.
  • Oversee payroll data prep and payroll vendor coordination, and review payroll journal entries.
  • Maintain vendor controls in  (vendor setup, bank verification) and supervise AP/AR workflows.
  • Support cash flow reporting, cash monitoring, and ad‑hoc financial analysis for leadership.
  • Create and maintain accounting SOPs; train bookkeeper and cross‑train other staff.
  • Assist with year‑end audit/CPA coordination, 1099 processes, and tax schedules.
Required Experience & Skills
  • 4–7 years accounting experience (private company preferred), including month‑end close and reconciliations.
  • Strong experience with Quick Books Online/Advanced, Net Suite, or similar;  and Shopify experience preferred.
  • Proven multi‑state sales tax exposure and/or experience working with sales tax specialists.
  • Comfortable with manufacturing inventory accounting, ERP/accounting system stand‑ups, deferred revenue, commissions, and payroll entries.
  • Very strong Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas).
  • Strong communication skills and a sense of ownership; able to document SOPs and train others.
  • High integrity, attention to detail, and demonstrated control‑oriented mindset.
Nice to Have
  • Experience leading a remote bookkeeper or small remote accounting/admin team.
  • Experience with Avalara, Tax Jar, or other tax automation tools.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Salary: $75,000–$95,000, depending on work experience and capabilities.

Location & Work Model

Arvada‑based company with hybrid flexibility. Remote candidates may be considered (Colorado only) if local overlap for onboarding and quarterly in‑person meetings is possible. Expect up to 30–60 days initially on‑site, with regular on‑site work days going forward (at least 5–10 days per month).
