Stylist in Training / Apprentice Stylist

Type:
Temporary 90-day position
- Market and grow the business
- Observe other stylists/managers at work and ask relevant questions
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Control expenses
- Promote and sell services and retail products
- Answer telephones, stock and dust shelves, sweep hair
- Complete all other duties as assigned by manager
The stylist‑in‑training may be eligible for promotion to the stylist position once they receive their license. Promotion requires application and meeting the following conditions: valid appropriate license, ability to perform duties as per state license, and demonstration of Regis values.
Qualifications- Graduate from an accredited cosmetology school and obtain required license(s) within 90 days of hire
- Ability to work in a dynamic salon environment
- Good time management, judgment, and multitasking skills
- Well‑developed interpersonal skills, professional and courteous communication
- Computer knowledge including point‑of‑sale systems and data entry
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends
- Market and Grow the Business
- Promote and sell services and products, recommend additional services or retail products
- Clearly convey pricing
- Coordinate promotional sales displays using Shop Talk
- Responsible for sales to walk‑in retail customers
- Provide Exceptional Customer Service
- Understand customer needs, greet by name, escort clients, give salon tour when necessary
- Estimate wait times for appointments
- Answer telephone promptly and professionally
- Handle complaints, refer issues to manager
- Manage and Control Expenses
- Follow weekly salon schedules
- Charge correctly for services and products, apply discounts per policy
- Safeguard company assets by adhering to policies
- Complete Required Administrative Tasks/Compliance
- Answer telephones, stock shelves, sweep hair, other duties as assigned
- Communicate effectively with management, customers, co‑workers
- Maintain safety standards, identify and correct unsafe conditions
- Attend work timely, mandatory meetings and training sessions
- Adhere to corporate policies, procedures, work rules
- Handle all POS transactions, including opening and closing register
- Frequent lifting up to 10 lbs, occasional 10‑25 lbs for product unloading
- Continuous standing and reaching, alternating shoulder level and above
- Occasional pushing/pulling to move styling chair, climbing ladders/stepstools
- Continuous exposure to chemicals and fragrances used in services
- Occasional travel to mandatory meetings/training, including overnight
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients about services
- Basic reading, writing, math skills for forms and company documents
