Manufacturing Engineer, CNC Machinist
We are anAS9100-certified contract manufacturerdelivering advanced machining solutions to theaerospace and defense industry. Our core competency lies in producing complex, high-precision components with a strong emphasis onprocess optimization, repeatability, and efficiency. Unlike high-mix environments, we focus on refining and scaling established part families, driving continuous improvement in machining performance and cost.
Position Summary:
TheSenior Siemens NX CAM Programmerwill be responsible for developing, optimizing, and standardizing CNC programs for3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling operationsacross a range of advanced machine platforms, includingGrob, Kitamura, Okuma, andMazak.
This role requires deep expertise inSiemens NX CAM, strong machining fundamentals, and the ability to makedata-driven decisionsrelated to toolpaths, tooling strategies, and work holding. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in advancing programming methodologies, improving process efficiency, and establishing best practices across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimizeCNC programs in Siemens NX CAMfor complex components requiring tight tolerances and high surface integrity
- Program3-axis, 4-axis, and full 5-axis simultaneous milling operationsacross multiple machine platforms (Grob, Kitamura, Okuma, Mazak, Haas)
- Establish and maintainprogramming standards and best practices, including toolpath strategies, naming conventions, and documentation structure
- Create comprehensivesetup documentation, including tool lists, setup sheets, work holding requirements, and process notes to ensure repeatability on the shop floor
- Analyze and refine machining processes with a focus onprocess stability, cycle time reduction, and tool life optimization
- Select and validatecutting tools, toolpath strategies, and fixturing/work holding approachesbased on material, geometry, and production requirements
- Manage, optimize, and verifyNX Post-Processorsacross all machine platforms
- Applydata-driven methodologiesto evaluate machining performance and guide continuous improvement efforts
Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement:
- Lead initiatives tooptimize existing part families, focusing on incremental gains in efficiency, consistency, and cost reduction
- Identify opportunities to implementadvanced toolpath strategies(e.g., high-efficiency milling, adaptive clearing, multi-axis finishing techniques)
- Drive adoption ofadvanced NX CAM capabilities, including parametric programming, feature-based machining, and template-driven workflows
- Collaborate with engineering, machinists, and quality teams tovalidate and refine machining processes
Tooling, Libraries, and Systems Development:
- Support the development and implementation of atool management system, including tool tracking, standardization, and lifecycle management
- Define and maintainresident tool librarieswithin NX and shop floor systems to ensure consistency and reduce setup variability
- Standardize tooling packages across similar part families to improve efficiency and reduce cost
Automation & Digital Manufacturing:
- Develop and implementautomation strategies within NX CAM, including templates, reusable operations, and parametric programming approaches
- Demonstrate a track record ofautomating repetitive programming tasksto improve programming efficiency and reduce variability
- Support integration of CAM workflows with broaderdigital manufacturing systems(MRP, tool management, etc.)
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of CNC programming experience, with a strong focus on multi-axis milling
- Advanced expertise inSiemens NX CAM, including complex multi-axis toolpath generation and post-processing considerations
- Proven experience programming3-, 4-, and 5-axis machining centers
- Deep…
