Technicians support the pharmacy team to deliver operational and service excellence, assist patients at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone, and help ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately. All team members follow Standard Operating Procedures and contribute to a safe, inclusive culture.
Responsibilities- Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures (production, pick-up, drive-thru, drop-off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Provide empathetic, customer-focused service to patients; support immunizations and other services as appropriate at the register and over the phone; resolve or escalate patient problems as needed.
- Perform basic inventory activities as permitted by law and directed by pharmacy leadership (e.g., stocking deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, waiting bin inventories).
- Contribute to a high-performing team, seek feedback, and expand clinical and technical knowledge to assist patients.
- Maintain scheduling flexibility and a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic; travel to stores in the market as needed by the business.
- Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, and CVS policies to ensure patient safety and privacy; manage controlled substance dispensing and recordkeeping appropriately.
- Deliver additional patient health care services where allowed by law and supported by training (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing, offsite clinics).
- Complete licensure/training to obtain Technician Immunizer status for preparing and administering vaccines.
- Educate patients on vaccines and refer questions to the Pharmacist-on-duty; monitor for adverse reactions and report per public health requirements.
- Collect and document patient information and manage vaccine supplies.
- Comply with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws; including age, education, and licensure/certification expectations.
- If not mandated by state, age minimum may be 16; high school diploma or equivalent (or active enrollment).
- State-level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe.
- Attention, focus, and ability to pivot between tasks to meet patient and business needs; ensure prescription information and labeling accuracy for patient safety.
- Customer service, teamwork, and active listening to assist patients and colleagues.
- Strong communication skills; ability to interact with patients and colleagues verbally and in writing.
- Mathematical reasoning for dispensing calculations (days supply, bottle counts).
- Problem resolution and conflict handling when faced with patient or colleague interactions.
- Physical demands including mobility, lifting, reaching, repetitive finger use, close visual acuity, and ability to lift up to 20 lbs as needed.
- Ability to receive and convey detailed information through oral communication.
- 1-3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Previous pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service experience.
- Ability to work across a market, including in-home store locations, to meet business needs.

Pay RangeThe typical pay range is $17.49 – $27.49 per hour. Final offer depends on experience, education, geography, and other factors.
