Job Overview

Band 5 Staff Nurse – Gynaecology Outpatients

37.5 hours per week | 12‑Month Secondment Contract

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and dedicated Gynaecology Outpatients Team as a Band 5 Staff Nurse on a 12‑month secondment contract, covering the secondment of one of our current team members.

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate registered nurse who is committed to delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care within a busy and rewarding outpatient setting. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in supporting women through a wide range of gynaecological investigations, treatments, and clinics.

Main duties of the job
  • Assist the Clinic Sister in ensuring effective and efficient management of all Gynecology clinics within the department including Colposcopy, Hysteroscopy, nurse‑led smear clinics, Uro‑Dynamics, Two Week Rule Clinics and pre‑operative sessions.
  • Play a lead role in the achievement and maintenance of high standards of patient care.
  • Use all resources efficiently and effectively and maintain operational standards taking responsibility for regular testing and maintenance of all equipment.
  • Liaise with all other departments as appropriate, to be aware of and participate in the implementation of Trust‑wide issues.
  • Communicate effectively with members of the multi‑professional team and other agencies as required.
  • Discuss and obtain consent where appropriate in accordance with consent policy.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure high standards of nursing documentation where necessary.
  • Ensure safe and appropriate discharge from the department following consultation treatment.
Person specification Qualifications
  • RGN with current NMC registration.
Experience
  • Previous experience in an acute Trust.
  • Experience working in an NHS setting.
Desirable experience
  • Experience in an outpatient setting.
  • Experience with in women’s health.
Skills & Knowledge Essential criteria
  • Able to make logical operational decisions.
  • Assess, plan, evaluate and implement care ensuring that current research is used.
  • Excellent written and communication skills; leadership skills.
Desirable criteria
  • Up to date knowledge of outpatient management skills or willingness to learn.
