Job Overview
The Pre-Assessment Department at Heatherwood Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our experienced team of Pre-Operative Assessment Nurses.
ResponsibilitiesThis role involves carrying out face‑to‑face and telephone assessments for patients awaiting elective surgery, ensuring they are fully prepared and clinically fit for their procedures to proceed safely. The main duties include reviewing patients from multiple surgical specialities, performing accurate assessments of general health and fitness, and providing nurse‑led pre‑assessment for those undergoing a general anaesthetic. The purpose is to optimise health and reduce cancellations.
PersonSpecification
Essential Criteria
- Minimum 2 years post‑qualification experience
- NMC Nursing Registration (Adult Nursing)
- Demonstrable communication skills – written and verbal
- Good time management skills / ability to manage own caseload
- Understanding of GIRFT principles
- Experience of pre‑operative assessment
- Knowledge of Epic (or similar) and Trust IT systems
- Demonstrated from application form / at interview
