Job Description:
As the Specialist, Systems Integration Engineer in Ashburn, you will be responsible for executing hardware and software system integration, system characterization and troubleshooting, and verification and validation of complex systems.
The Agile Development Group (ADG) specializes in developing disruptive, next‑generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar systems, next‑generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor technologies using small company agility and big company experience.
Essential Functions- Hands‑on system integration and testing of a complex hardware/software system.
- Perform design verification testing efforts including lab, chamber, ground, and flight test.
- Assess, troubleshoot, and develop mitigation strategies for complex system issues at the assembly and sub‑assembly levels.
- Maintenance of test equipment.
- Work with parts vendors to solve issues.
- Rapidly learn and contribute during design‑develop‑build‑integration|test‑verification|validation cycles.
- Ensure deliverable is in accordance with requirements.
- Collaborate across fast‑paced multidisciplinary (mechanical, electrical, software, and specialty engineering) team.
- Develop and run simulations and analysis tools to predict system performance in various environments.
- Analyze data from design verification test efforts.
- Track and present technical performance results.
- Author test plan/procedures, non‑conformance reports, requirements, and other system engineering CDRLs.
- Contribute to trade studies.
- Use Agile PLM, Sunflower, Windchill.
- Maintain DoD security clearances as required.
- Lift up to 20 lbs.
- Up to 10% travel may be required.
- Other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Active Secret security clearance.
- Experience in unmanned aircraft or guided weapon systems.
- System level experience in which the applicant has been involved in the design and integration of complex hardware/software systems, the definition of multiple interfaces, and has been involved in the trades of multiple solution options.
- Hands‑on system integration experience, cross‑discipline engineering, verification and validation testing, and system performance characterization.
- Experience with and an understanding of aerospace systems, especially in the development of integrated hardware/software products.
- Experience integrating typical payloads like sensors or communications into air vehicles.
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering.
- Experience with MATLAB, Lab View, Python, or C/C++/C#.
- Experience in Control Account Management as part of an Earned Value Management System.
- Experience with proposal development including generating basis of estimates.
- Experience in development of use cases and requirements developed from customer objectives and concepts of operations.
- Excellent people skills with experience leading and collaborating in a multi‑disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation).
- Experience using Microsoft Office products.
