Medical Laboratory Scientist

INOVA’s Loudoun Hospital is looking for a dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist 2 to join our team. This is a full‑time position on the night shift (11 p – 7 a) and/or evening shift (2:30 p – 11 p), working every other weekend. Sign‑on bonus and relocation assistance available.

• Review technical activities for quality assurance per facility requirements.
• Participate and help prepare the laboratory for self‑and onsite inspections.
• Follow site‑specific SOPs and instructions; annually read and document SOP knowledge.
• Perform required QC measures, including corrective action and documentation for all procedures and instrumentation; recognize QC problems or discrepancies and identify causes before notification.
• Act as a resource for coworkers, customers and patients for technical questions; demonstrate expanded knowledge beyond normal technical operations.
• Report accurate results while minimizing the number of corrected reports not attributable to auto‑verification or specimen conditions beyond technical control.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree in science from an accredited college/university. A degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology preferred. Other acceptable forms of education will follow ASCP/AMT Board certification guidelines.
• Experience:
  
  Successful completion of an NAACLS‑accredited MLS program, an NAACLS or ABHES‑accredited MSL program, or a foreign medical laboratory science clinical training program within the last five years can be used in lieu of one year of full‑time acceptable clinical experience.
• Certification upon start: ASCP or AMT Board certification consistent with scope of responsibility (MT, MLS, MLT, BB, SBB, C, H, M, SH, SCT, MB, SMB, SM, SC, HEW).
