OverviewLife Enrichment Assistants assist with planning and providing activities and fitness programming for the residents of our community, as well as our community volunteer program. They support the Life Enrichment Director in assessing residents’ interests, needs, and abilities, and providing quality activities programming both inside and outside of the community. They are responsible for encouraging participation and socialization of residents and volunteers.
This position reports to the Life Enrichment Director and is part of the Life Enrichment team. Our Life Enrichment team enhances residents’ quality of life by addressing social, physical, and mental health through engaging programs.
- Assist Life Enrichment Director with coordinating and facilitating activities and events for residents, inside and outside the community, to promote creativity, physical and mental well-being, socialization, and fun.
- Encourage resident socialization and participation in activities and events to promote a positive community environment.
- Maintain inventory checklist of supplies and materials for the Life Enrichment program.
- Coordinate the community volunteer program. Assign tasks to volunteers and encourage participation in events and programs.
- Provide administrative duties to support the Life Enrichment team as assigned by the Life Enrichment Director.
- Welcome new residents upon move-in (e.g., balloons, framed announcements, décor).
- Work with care staff to transport residents to activities and events.
- Drive the community vehicle.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by the Life Enrichment Director.
- Coursework in recreational therapy/gerontology is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
- Preferred minimum one (1) year experience coordinating and conducting group activities.
- Experience relevant to working with seniors; experience caring for those with memory impairment is preferred.
- Constant use of manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills with frequent bi-manual and fine motor tasks.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
- Ability to reach, bend, twist, squat, kneel, push and pull.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to perform repetitive movements including simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation.
- Occasionally sitting, with frequent standing and walking.
