The IT Asset Specialist will be responsible for managing and optimizing QTS’s IT assets, including hardware, software, licenses, and related resources. This role involves tracking the lifecycle of IT devices, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements and maximizing the value of the company’s IT investments. The IT Asset Specialist will work closely with Network Engineers, Systems and Cloud Engineers, Application Engineers, Procurement team, and other key stakeholders to maintain accurate inventory, reduce costs, and improve overall operational efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Audit and manage hardware assets, including Firewalls, routers, switches, Wireless Access Points, and servers.
  • Coordinate with our Procurement team to create and process purchase orders for IT hardware and software.
  • Ensures timely and accurate additions, dispositions, and periodic replacements of IT assets.
  • Process IT asset requests including validation of the requests, shipping of IT assets, and updating of asset records.
  • Monitor and track IT asset assignments and facilitate reassignments as needed.
  • Collaborate with procurement team to acquire necessary IT assets and licenses.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and budget requirements.
  • Maintain relationships with IT asset vendors and service providers.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate agreements for cost-effective solutions.
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of IT assets from procurement to disposal.
  • Work with Technology Engineering teams to ensure the timely replacement or upgrade of aging or obsolete IT hardware.
  • Coordinate the secure disposal or recycling of retired IT assets in compliance with environmental regulations and data security policies.
  • Collaborate with Technology Engineering teams, Procurement team, Facility Operations teams, and approved vendors to ensure seamless deployment of IT assets into new infrastructure and into existing infrastructure.
  • Communicate asset-related policies and procedures to employees and key stakeholders.
  • Generate regular reports on asset utilization, performance, and compliance.
  • Document IT asset-related processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation related to IT assets, including purchase invoices, warranties, and maintenance agreements.
  • Generate reports and analytics on asset utilization, costs, and compliance status for management review.
  • Ensure that data on retired assets is securely wiped or destroyed to prevent data breaches.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry standards related to IT asset management.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Three or more years of IT or related experience.
  • Proven experience in IT asset management and procurement.
  • Strong knowledge of hardware and software products.
  • Familiarity with licensing agreements and compliance.
  • Proficiency with asset tracking and management tools.
  • US Citizenship for this position is required by law due to federal customer contracts.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS>
  • IT Asset Management certification
  • Other related IT certifications (eg. ITIL)
  • Previous experience working in the data center industry
