We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Oracle/SQL Developer (Database Developer) (Entry Level) to join our team in Ashburn, VA. The successful candidate will support the design, implementation, and maintenance of database systems, with a focus on Postgre
SQL and Oracle operating in AWS cloud environments. This role is ideal for candidates with foundational database experience who are eager to expand their skills in a dynamic and collaborative setting.
This role requires 2 days on-site per week in Ashburn, VA.
Job Responsibilities- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Postgre
SQL and Oracle databases. - Support database operations in AWS cloud environments, including RDS and EC2-based deployments.
- Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries, procedures, and scripts.
- Monitor database performance and assist with tuning and optimization.
- Participate in backup, recovery, and security procedures for databases.
- Collaborate with development and IT teams to integrate databases with applications and services.
- Document database processes and maintain accurate records.
- Perform routine database administration tasks under supervision.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience) with 2+ years of technical experience.
- Basic experience working with Postgre
SQL and Oracle databases. - Familiarity with AWS cloud services, especially database-related offerings (e.g., RDS, EC2).
- Understanding of concepts of integration with supporting AWS services (e.g., S3, Open Search).
- Understanding of relational database concepts and SQL.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Experience with database scripting and automation.
- Exposure to data backup and recovery procedures.
- Familiarity with cloud security best practices.
- Master’s degree in computer science or related field is a plus
- Clearance – Ability to obtain and hold a public trust position and favorable suitability based on a CBP Background Investigation
- Citizenship – Must be a US Citizen
- Location – Hybrid with on-site (Ashburn, VA) visits 2 days per week and if a mission need. All candidates must be within the GWA/commutable area.
