This position manages and develops network operations activities, evaluates ongoing and future infrastructure needs, and recommends changes. It oversees the day‑to‑day performance and activities of the team, including Network Engineers and Network Administrators, to ensure service quality and network efficiency.

• Develop and implement department strategic plans, processes, and procedures; enhance integration between the team and other departments.
• Manage the budget and lead improvements and growth of network operations processes and capabilities.
• Ensure changes to the network infrastructure plans.
• Improve customer service, provide expert guidance, and ensure the correct technical teams are involved.
• Lead and direct the work of other employees and have full authority for personnel decisions; administer departmental policies and procedures, evaluate results and performance, and assist with developing new or modified budgets, strategic plans, or policies.
• Provide technical guidance for directing and monitoring information systems operations.
• Plan, organize, and direct the Network Operations Team to ensure stable operation of CBP's network infrastructure.
• Maintain, support, and optimise key functional areas, particularly network infrastructure, server infrastructure, network security, telecommunications systems, and service desk.
• Manage and set priorities for monitoring and maintenance of network systems, including LANs, WANs, Internet, intranet, and wireless.
• Manage and set priorities for the Network Management Operations team; provide support to CBP end users, operations personnel, and strategic program management.
• Ensure effective monitoring and response to hardware, software, and network problems.
• Coordinate and manage routine testing and analysis of all elements of the network facilities.
• Schedule and direct activities to resolve hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion.

• Must obtain a CBP Background Investigation/clearance – required for consideration; some billets may require DoD Secret or Top‑Secret access.
• Relevant certifications such as ITIL v3, CCNA, CCNP or CCIE.
• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field such as Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Networking or Telecommunications.
• Ten (10) plus years of senior level networking experience administering enterprise infrastructures in large complex enterprises.
• Working knowledge of networking concepts, infrastructure and equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers).
• Experience implementing and administering an enterprise‑wide monitoring system for servers, networking devices and applications.
• Showcase leadership abilities by managing projects and teams.
• Proficiency in project management and knowledge of security and compliance issues.
