Location:

Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire and Derbyshire, LE65.

• Work within a growing, well‑established engineering business delivering complex rail infrastructure projects across the UK.
• Opportunity for a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor who wants to take ownership of projects, work closely with senior stakeholders and develop in a technically strong environment.
• Newly created role; candidates must have some experience. Freedom to shape the role and influence the business. Possibility to grow the function longer term.
• Long‑term scope within a company with an excellent rail industry reputation.
• Starting salary to be confirmed (estimated £55,000 – £60,000). Flexible working hours, bonus, pension, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, early finish on a Friday and more.
• Based at site in Ashby with occasional travel to customer sites. Full UK driving licence required.

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within rail, engineering, construction, infrastructure or civil engineering, managing high‑value contracts.
• Understanding of NEC or JCT contracts.
• Strong experience of cost management, valuations and change control.
• Strong commercial awareness – commercial management of projects.
• Excellent communication skills; ability to work with internal teams and client interaction.

• Manage commercial and financial performance of multiple high‑value projects from tender stage through to final account.
• Support tender and bid submissions, including pricing and risk assessment.
• Manage project costs, budgets and forecasting.
• Handle variations, change control and valuations.
• Manage subcontractor accounts and payments.
• Support risk management and early warning processes.
• Work closely with project, procurement and delivery teams.
