YOUR ROLE

We are looking for an Assistant Tax Manager to join our UK & Ireland finance team, where you will not only support group financial activities. This is a broad, hands‑on role offering exposure to corporation tax, VAT, employee taxes, statutory reporting and HMRC engagement, as well as involvement in wider group projects. It’s an excellent opportunity for a tax professional looking to deepen their technical expertise within a large, multi‑matrixed and dynamic organisation.

WHAT

ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
  • Reporting into the Head of Tax for UK&I you will play a key role in delivering high‑quality tax compliance, reporting and internal advisory across a complex, multi‑entity group, with particular focus on:
  • Preparation of corporation tax returns for the group, including multiple UK entities.
  • Preparation and submission of the Corporate Interest Restriction (CIR) return.
  • Co‑ordination of group relief claims and other group‑wide allowances.
  • Preparation and submission of Controlled Foreign Company (CFC) disclosures.
  • Calculation of quarterly corporation tax payments on account.
  • Co‑ordination of Pillar Two UK filings.
  • Preparation of tax disclosures for the statutory accounts of the group and multiple entities.
  • Review of VAT returns for the group, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely submission.
  • Preparation and submission of the group’s PAYE settlement agreements (PSA).
  • Management of the HMRC Business Risk Review (BRR) process, including:
    • Assisting with responses to pre‑BRR queries.
    • Supporting discussions with HMRC during the BRR.
    • Helping implement improvements following BRR findings.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for HMRC and internal teams on all tax matters relating to the group.
  • Providing tax input on group projects, restructurings and transactions.
  • Working closely with finance, legal, operations and external advisers to ensure tax‑efficient and compliant outcomes.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

To be successful in your application you will be able to demonstrate the following technical knowledge, skills and behaviours:

  • Part or fully qualified in CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent.
  • Proven tax experience, either in practice or in‑house, with a strong focus on corporation tax and/or VAT.
  • Solid understanding of UK tax compliance and accounting fundamentals.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and explain complex tax matters.
  • Comfortable managing multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office; experience with ERP systems such as SAP or JD Edwards is advantageous.
  • Clear, confident communicator able to engage with both tax and non‑tax stakeholders.
DESIRABLE, HOWEVER NON‑ESSENTIAL SKILLS
  • Exposure to large or complex corporate groups, ideally in industry or a top‑tier accountancy firm.
  • Experience supporting HMRC interactions and governance processes.
  • Experience of restructurings or M&A activity.
