Our patient services team is an instrumental part of our team. As a patient service advisor, you will be that first point ofcontact for our patients providing them with key assistance in a friendly and positive manner. You will support our patients to access the care they require with the most appropriate clinician or service, following practice appointment booking procedures.
You will work as a flexible member of the team and report to the Patient Service Leads and Management Team.
A working knowledge of general practice or the NHS, Systm One and Microsoft Applications would be desirable, however additional training can be provided. Past experience of customer services is essential.
The position is suitable for someone who is able to work on their own initiative, problem solve effectively,be self-sufficient and manage their own workload effectively with minimal supervision.
Main duties of the jobSupporting patients with booking, moving or cancelling appointments in-line with practice procedures
Dealing with general enquiries at the front desk or over thephone
Booking ambulances and making referrals to the district nursing team as required
Signing in visitors to the practice
Supporting with opening and closing the premises up
Any additional duties that are appropriate to this role

Our practice premises have good modern facilities including a minor surgery suite and ample car parking.
The practice is well led with a friendly and supportive team. Our clinical team has a wide skill mix including 6 GP partners, salaried GPs, advanced nurse practitioners, paramedics, pharmacists, nurses, healthcare assistants, phlebotomist, first contact practitioner and mental health practitioner.
Our clinical team is supported by an extensive and experienced management, patient services and administration team.
We are a training practice, keen to share our knowledge and support our team to develop. Peer support is available.
We are an active member of our Primary Care Network working alongside our fellow practices.
Job responsibilities- Effective and efficient reception service provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice
- Deal with all general enquiries and explain practice procedures
- Explain practice arrangements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover
- Receive and make telephone calls
- Transfer calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail
- Book, amend or cancel appointments for patients in line with practice procedure
- Book ambulances and district nurse visits as required
- Inform patients of charges for private services and take payments
- Record information in patient records as required
- Undertaken administrative tasks e.g. registrations, prescriptions, scanning
- Sign in visitors to the practice
- Undertake opening and locking up tasks as required
- Experience of working in or with Primary Care or the NHS
- Experience of using Systm One and Microsoft Applications
