OverviewWe are looking for a Medical Assistant (Bilingual Preferred) to join our team. Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Nurse Manager, this position involves clinical duties that vary according to state law and include taking medical histories, recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, and assisting the provider during the examination. They may receive direction from an MD, mid-level provider, RN, LPN and/or the assigned supervisor.
Administrative duties may include answering telephones, greeting patients, updating and filing patient medical records, scheduling appointments, handling correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping. Clinical duties may include taking medical histories, explaining treatment procedures, preparing patients for examination, instructing patients about medication and special diets, preparing and administering medications, drawing blood, and more.

- Education:
High School Diploma or GED - Experience:
1 year of related work preferred or OJT for ≥2 years - Certification(s)/Licensure: RMA, CMA, or CCMA required; BLS/CPR
- Language:
Spanish - Bilingual preferred
- Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned within the MA scope of practice (vital signs, procedures, patient education, etc.)
- Assists patients in navigating care through the encounter process to minimize ambiguity
- Accurately documents all aspects of patient encounters required for job functions
- Tracks and documents closed-loop communication with patients, including labs, return calls, refills, and more
- Communicates with external and internal parties as needed to facilitate continuity of care
- Completes supportive assignments on time and unprompted (e.g., instrument maintenance, infection control, ordering, sorting, storing supplies, restocking)
- Provides patient teaching and care plan support
- Guard patient privacy and comply with HIPAA regulations at all times
- Actively participates in QI activities
- Participates in staff meetings as required
- Completes annual competencies within the required period
- Communicates effectively in English (personally, by phone, and in writing)
