Veterinary Student Externship - Animal Hospital Randolph
We are delighted to host veterinary students for externships at Animal Hospital Randolph in Asheboro, NC. This valuable clinical experience will let you put what you’ve learned in the classroom to the test in an animal hospital of your choice. Our hands‑on externships are designed exclusively for veterinary students at AVMA‑accredited veterinary schools in their clinical years (typically their 3rd or 4th year).
We offer stipends to help offset travel and lodging expenses, unless prohibited by your veterinary school.
- Must be a current veterinary student at an AVMA‑accredited veterinary school.
- Priority scheduling is given to students in their clinical years on official externship blocks for school credit.

What to expect from your externship:
You will actively participate in cases and further develop your skills under the supervision of experienced veterinarians and skilled support staff. Expect to be included in surgical cases, dental procedures, emergencies, sick patient workups, and routine medical appointments. You will listen to patient history, conduct preliminary exams, and formulate plans for diagnostics and treatment. You will discuss cases with your supervising veterinarian, which will help you gauge your progress.
We encourage active participation, client interaction, and independent case research. Externs may select one case per week to further research and contribute to case discussions.
