REQUEST FOR DESIGN ASSOCIATE CANDIDATES

Osgood Landscape Architecture, Inc. (OLA) is a boutique landscape architecture and design firm based in downtown Asheville, North Carolina. OLA is seeking a creative, personable, and motivated full-time (40‑hours +) Design Associate with no less than 1‑3 years of office experience. We offer a very close‑knit working environment where sharing ideas and communicating on a high level is essential.

Our collaborative team of Landscape Architects has a proven record of contributing to positive changes in spaces for people while protecting and celebrating the places and ecology that we live in and love. Our work varies in scale and scope, including commercial adaptive reuse; residential; affordable housing; community master plans on 10‑1,000+ acres, land planning for “agri‑hood” developments on 300+ acres;

municipal parks and recreation improvement plans; and sustainable stormwater and stream restoration planning for farms, retreat centers, and educational facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in a collaborative, team‑oriented design process from site analysis, concept development, product research, technical drawing production, and construction observation.
  • Contribute to project branding and marketing strategies throughout the design and visioning process.
  • Prepare hand‑drawn conceptual design diagrams, plans, sections, and illustrations for client review.
  • Produce visioning documents, presentation graphics, and renderings using InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Produce planting designs, landscape plans, and plant schedules for projects of varying scales.
  • Provide grading and drainage designs with an emphasis on innovative stormwater management solutions.
  • Produce technical design development, permitting, and construction drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Carry out administrative assignments such as quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, file management, organization, etc.
  • Write, edit, and assemble text for design presentations, technical specifications, reports, marketing documents, and daily project correspondence.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, LandFX and Adobe Suite software;
    Sketch Up and Bluebeam a plus.
  • Creative, versatile, and dependable.
  • Goal‑oriented with strong critical thinking and observation abilities.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, team‑oriented studio environment.
  • Attention to detail, strong work ethic, and time management skills.
  • Exhibit desire to grow within the profession.
