Western North Carolina Community Health Services (WNCCHS) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) delivering patient care with a highly integrated team of family medicine practitioners, dentists, behavioral health clinicians, and on‑site pharmacy services in a community health center setting. We are looking for a Per‑Diem Primary Care Physician to complement the delivery of integrated, whole‑person, trauma‑informed primary health care services.
The Physician will collaborate with the interdisciplinary health care team and provide clinical leadership and supervision to advanced practice nurses (APN) & physician assistants (PA), and indirect supervision of medical support staff.
$90.00/hr – $97.00/hr
Responsibilities- Assess, maintain and improve the health status of individuals in the communities served through timely access to evidence‑based acute, preventive, and chronic disease care.
- Serve as a role model of professionalism to all members of the interdisciplinary health care team, collaborating with all Licensed Independent Practitioners (LIP) and Other Licensed Independent Practitioner (OLIP) including physicians, APNs, PAs, therapists, dentists, etc., and clinical support staff to form a high‑performing team.
- Cultivate a climate of safety, trust, and compassion for patients and colleagues.
- Provide medical evaluation, treatment, and consultation services to patients of the clinic in a timely manner, including responding to emergencies and answering medical questions.
- Provide high‑value, cost‑conscious care; demonstrate good stewardship of resources by limiting unnecessary testing and referrals; and consider risks, benefits, and patient preferences when making diagnostic or therapeutic intervention decisions.
- Document all patient care activities and bills for all services provided in the electronic health record. Documentation must be clear, concise, accurate, updated, and in sufficient detail to allow another provider to continue the patient’s care as well as to allow other parties to review the safety and quality of care provided.
- Graduation from an accredited school of medicine with a degree of Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy. Completion of residency from an accredited program.
- Current unrestricted North Carolina MD or DO licensure, DEA, and BLS are required.
- Must be Medicaid and Medicare eligible.
- Board Certification in Specialty is preferred.
- AAHIVM Certification is preferred.
- Must have or be able to obtain admitting privileges to the local hospital.
- Previous medical office or FQHC experience is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledgeable about current standards, methods, and procedures for the delivery of evidence‑based care in an efficient, organized, and accurate manner.
- Have collaboration and teamwork skills to work efficiently with others to provide new ideas and help inspire staff and management.
- Flexibility to work with a variety of people differing in ages, personalities, and backgrounds.
- Demonstrates leadership, teaching, and evaluation skills.
