Position Summary

Teaching a variety of courses in Music including:
Music Appreciation and Introduction to Jazz classes. This individual must possess the knowledge and skills to teach and supervise students in the classroom.

Duties
  • Teach Music Appreciation and/or Introduction to Jazz in a variety of times/formats (day, evening, hybrid, high school sections) at Madison, South and Asheville campuses.
  • Supervise students in the classroom.
  • Develop class syllabus, teaching materials, activities, and handouts for each section/class taught.
  • Prepare and deliver lectures.
  • Abide by all policies, standards, goals and objectives of the College, the Arts & Sciences Division, and the Department.
  • Participate in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities to improve instructional quality.
  • Maintain accurate student records, gradebook in Moodle and attendance in Web Advisor.
  • Maintain good communication with department chairperson, instructors, peers and students.
  • Ability to work as a team.
  • Utilize Moodle software platform.
  • Minimum Requirements
    • Master’s degree in Music or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Music.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Successful teaching experience: community college teaching experience preferred.
    • Performance experience.
