Clark Nexsen is seeking an experienced Building Enclosure Consultant with proven expertise in the design, analysis, and repair of building enclosures. The successful candidate will work alongside architects and engineers in a multi‑discipline, collaborative, and engaging team‑based environment.

Responsibilities
  • Technical project execution, including hands‑on field investigations, training others, and applying sound judgment and a deep understanding of governing codes, design guidelines, and various building enclosure systems for analysis, detailing, and repair design; preparing technically excellent client deliverables; and providing high‑quality reviews of work by others.
  • Performing condition assessments and construction site visits, documenting existing conditions, evaluating performance, conducting field testing, collecting data and samples, troubleshooting details, and observing buildings under construction.
  • Collaboration with multi‑discipline project teams, providing expertise for a variety of building envelope‑related projects (e.g., roofing, waterproofing, curtain wall, fenestration, troubleshooting of existing envelope systems, enclosure commissioning (BECx), and/or specialty consulting of new enclosure systems from design through construction).
  • Authoring site visit reports, standalone technical reports, and contributing to project basis‑of‑design documentation.
  • Reviewing and interpreting architectural drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and related documents to support peer reviews and consulting activities.
  • Specifying project building enclosure commissioning requirements.
  • Contributing to project scoping and fee proposals, maintaining project schedules and budgets, and managing client expectations and deliverables.
  • Mentoring and sharing knowledge with colleagues, providing quality control reviews with helpful feedback, and contributing to process improvement and knowledge sharing sessions.
Required Experience
  • Registered Architect (RA) or Professional Engineer (PE) preferred; related professional certifications (e.g., Registered Roof Consultant/Observer, Registered Exterior Wall Consultant/Observer, Registered Waterproofing Consultant, Certified Building Enclosure Commissioning Provider) considered in lieu of licensure, with relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or better in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Building Science, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum six years of cumulative industry experience, including significant technical experience in architectural detailing of building envelope systems, roofing systems, and waterproofing systems.
  • Knowledge of building science fundamentals and advanced applications (condensation and moisture control, air barrier design, materials selection, thermal bridging mitigation). Experience with a diverse assortment of enclosure types, materials, and interface detailing.
  • Experience with facades, curtain walls, fenestration/glazing systems, sealants and coatings, insulation, air barriers, cladding assemblies, low‑slope roofing, steep‑slope roofing, below‑grade waterproofing, plaza/terrace waterproofing, traffic coatings, and green roofs.
  • Effective technical, graphical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated competence in transitioning quickly between multiple priorities while maintaining effective coworker and client relationships.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Bluebeam/Adobe Acrobat.
  • Candidates must be able to successfully pass a federal background check as a condition of employment.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with WUFI Pro, THERM, WINDOW.
  • Experience with Revit, Rhino/Grasshopper.
  • Travel an average of 20% of the time.
  • Work may involve times outside normal working hours and on weekends.
