The vascular technologist operates ultrasound equipment to make quality images of designated portions of the body under the direct order of a physician and in accordance with standard operating procedures. The role accomplishes patient care in a timely, professional, efficient, and safe manner while acting independently and assessing emergency situations accurately. Good oral and written communication skills are required. The Vascular Technologist may be required to perform invasive and non‑invasive procedures on a variety of patients, utilize sterile techniques and assist physicians as necessary throughout the Mission Health System.
Continuing education, learned skills and experience will be utilized. This position functions without constant supervision to produce superior quality imaging studies. In addition to ARDMS, ARRT or CCI Vascular Ultrasound certification, the Vascular Technologist must routinely work within another qualifying ARDMS specialty ultrasound certification, as directed by department managers/supervisors to meet the specific needs of the departments. This includes but is not limited to:
Abdomen (AB), Breast (BR), Fetal Echo (FE), Neurosonology (NE), Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN) or Pediatric Sonography (PS).

Education:
Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program. - Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare‑related profession. - Required License: ARDMS or ARRT Registry in Ultrasound at time of hire. Additionally, Vascular Ultrasound Registry from either ARDMS, ARRT or CCI upon time of hire. Must complete required CEU’s to maintain certification. BCLS certified.
- Preferred License: ARDMS in multiple specialties.
- Required QA:
Technologist must participate in section QA programs as necessary and complete required educational guidelines in addition to the ARRT, ARDMS or CCI re‑certification guidelines. - Preferred Experience:
12 months previous experience in ultrasound.
