Job Type: Contract / Per Diem

Education Level: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field (Master’s preferred)

Salary Range: Commensurate with Experience

Summary

Bus Company Holdings US, LLC (dba Coach USA), a motorcoach transportation company, is looking for a compassionate and resilient Crises Counselor with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in counseling and de‑escalation techniques and expertise addressing unhoused individuals’ issues as it related to transit. In this role, you will provide emotional support, guidance, and resources to individuals experiencing distress or trauma related to transportation incidents including accidents, delays or emergencies.

This role focuses on crises intervention, safety assurance, and connecting affected individuals to appropriate mental health and community services. The ideal candidate will have local experience and understanding of the community resources to deal with ongoing crises. The Crises Counselor reports directly to the General Manager.

Essential Functions
  • Provide real‑time crisis counseling via phone, text, chat, or in‑person sessions.
  • Assist individuals navigate challenging situations and connect them with appropriate resources for on‑going care.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans as needed.
  • Offer emotional support, de‑escalation, and coping strategies to individuals in crisis.
  • Collaborate with emergency services, healthcare providers, and community resources.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all client interactions.
  • Participate in regular supervision, training, and team meetings.
  • Adhere to ethical and legal standards, including confidentiality and mandated reporting.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong communication, active listening, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high‑stress situations.
  • Familiarity with trauma‑informed care and suicide prevention best practices.
  • Knowledge of local mental health and social service resources.
