The vascular technologist operates ultrasound equipment to capture quality images of designated portions of the body under the direct order of a physician and in accordance with standard operating procedures. Responsibilities include timely, professional, efficient, and safe patient care. The vascular technologist must think and act independently, assess emergency situations accurately, and communicate effectively in writing and verbally. This role may perform invasive and non-invasive procedures, utilize sterile techniques, and assist physicians as necessary throughout the Mission Health System.
Ongoing education and experience will be utilized. This position functions with limited supervision to produce high-quality imaging studies. In addition to ARDMS, ARRT, or CCI Vascular Ultrasound certification, the technologist must routinely work within another qualifying ARDMS specialty ultrasound certification as directed by management to meet department needs (examples include Abdomen, Breast, Fetal Echo, Neurosonology, OB/GYN, Pediatric Sonography, etc.).
Qualifications
- Required
Education:
Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program. - Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field. - Required License: ARDMS or ARRT Registry in Ultrasound at time of hire;
Vascular Ultrasound Registry from ARDMS, ARRT, or CCI at time of hire; completion of required CEUs; BCLS certified. - Preferred License: ARDMS in multiple specialties.

Participation in section QA programs and compliance with ARRT/ARDMS/CCI recertification guidelines. - Preferred Experience:
12 months of ultrasound experience.
