Department Detail – Blue Ridge Broadcasting (BRB) is a listener-supported ministry that operates The Light FM radio stations, the primary of which is 106.9 FM, WMIT. Founded by Billy and Ruth Graham, and with offices and studios on the property of the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove in Asheville, BRB reaches portions of seven states through 106.9 FM and eight other FM signals in NC, SC, and TN.
World-wide reach is achieved through The Light FM smartphone app, thelightfm.org and various podcasts. BRB connects to BGEA through the Media Ministry division; the home of media production and distribution for the BGEA. This division includes:
Video Ministry Services – the team that produces BGEA’s video programming and materials; and Audio Ministry Services – the team that produces BGEA’s podcasts and awareness announcements for radio, maintains the Billy Graham Audio Archives and the 24/7 stream of messages and programming for The Billy Graham Channel on Sirius
XM satellite radio.
Job Summary – The Volunteer Coordinator ensures productive and efficient operation of the Volunteer program through organization, supervision and volunteer project management. Position manages all volunteers, volunteer recruitment and training, volunteer activities, volunteer communication, and volunteer appreciation.
Ministry Requirements
- Maintains a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
- Faithfully upholds BGEA in prayer
- Participates in daily BGEA staff devotions including Bible reading, and leading group prayer as schedule permits
- Demonstrates behavior aligned with BGEA’s Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, Hallmarks, policies, and expectations
- Effectively represents Jesus Christ to those within both personal and professional spheres of influence
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops, maintains and grows comprehensive and vibrant Volunteer Program for the ministry
- Creates and executes a robust volunteer recruitment strategy that ensures BRB has a large and diverse volunteer pool in all the communities we serve
- Manages effective teams of volunteers for staff coverage, events, fundraisers, administrative assistance, and other projects as they arise
- Builds relationships with individual volunteers ensuring each person is fully aware of the impact their service makes on the organization and is engaged in the ministry and ministered to regularly
- Processes volunteer applications, interviews and background checks
- Schedules volunteers to effectively meet ministry needs
- Provides effective and ongoing training for volunteers, including a full onboarding orientation
- Develops and maintains accurate volunteer attendance and record keeping and organizes reports on volunteer engagement for management
- Plans and executes periodic recognition events for volunteers
- Maintains current volunteer database
- Serve as the primary station tour guide for guests and volunteers

Job Specifications
Skills and Knowledge
- Associate-level degree in Business or related field
- Ability to function well in a supervisory capacity
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with volunteer and donors
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and various database software
- Ability to work independently and make decisions as appropriate
