Overview

Are you someone with a passionate interest in the development and success of the Voluntary & Community Sector? Then help us shape the work of our charity to ensure we help the most not-for-profit social organisations and charities.

Although the role is unpaid, you will be helping a small charity to make a big difference to the lives of people who depend on the charitable sector throughout Kent and Medway. You will develop valuable knowledge, skills and experience of charity work and what is happening in the sector in Kent. You will work alongside a committed and varied team of trustees, all seeking to maximise the impact of our mentoring work and you will have the satisfaction of giving something back to the community.

  • Knowledge of charity/social organisations in areas where we would like to be more active:
    Dartford, Gravesham, Maidstone, Thanet, and the Medway towns.
Working Arrangement

Hybrid.

About the Role

Since our inception in 2020, Charity Mentors Kent and Medway has been able to provide help to charitable organisations across the region. We are currently supported by a number of generous funders enabling us to continue raising our profile and expanding our operations across the county.

Personal Attributes

You have a commitment to helping local communities by improving the help they get from social organisations. You understand the need to be inclusive and anti‑racist in your thinking. You may have professional and/or lived knowledge or experience in the following areas:

  • Work with or in a local charity or social organisation
  • Coaching or mentoring in a business or charity context
  • Financial management
  • Knowledge of charity/social organisations in areas where we would like to be more active:
    Dartford, Gravesham, Maidstone, Thanet, and the Medway towns.
Commitment

Trustees meet online for 90 minutes in the early evening four times a year, as well as an annual strategy planning meeting. In addition, trustees may choose to join in occasional meetings of mentors to discuss current mentoring projects and any challenges that may have arisen.
