Are you passionate about supporting children’s emotional wellbeing and helping them flourish in a positive, therapeutic learning environment?
Are you ready to make a meaningful difference in a school dedicated to transforming young lives?

We are looking for Therapeutic Learning Assistant – Ashington to join our supportive team. This rewarding role focuses on helping children with SEND and SEMH needs to regulate emotions, build confidence, and engage successfully in their learning journey.

You’ll work alongside teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment where every child feels understood, valued, and motivated to learn.

Hours:

8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday

What You Need
  • Experience supporting children or young people, ideally within a SEND or SEMH setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and positive relationships
  • The ability to provide two recent references (work-based or educational)
  • A compassionate, proactive attitude and genuine commitment to supporting young people’s wellbeing and learning
Key Responsibilities
  • Support children’s emotional and learning development within the classroom and wider school environment
  • Implement personalised strategies that encourage emotional regulation, focus, and positive participation in lessons
  • Engage pupils in therapeutic and creative activities that boost self-esteem, curiosity, and resilience
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to provide consistent, tailored support
  • Track progress and adapt learning approaches to meet each child’s evolving needs
  • Contribute to pastoral care, ensuring pupils feel safe, supported, and ready to learn each day
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers, sharing progress and celebrating successes
Why Join Us?

You’ll become part of a warm, inclusive team that values creativity, compassion, and collaboration. This is your opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of children who benefit from therapeutic and educational support — helping them develop the confidence, skills, and love of learning to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.
