Senior Field Service Specialist - EV

:

Responsibilities
  • Execute mechanical and electrical tasks on equipment utilized in power transmission, distribution, and generation at customer facilities.
  • Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and diagrams to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean all components in a substation.
  • Lead the following tasks:
    Transformer Testing – Power factor, TTR, insulation resistance, SFRA, winding resistance, partial discharge, and leakage reactance;
    Cable Testing – Insulation resistance, tan delta, hipot, TDR, partial discharge, and cable thumper;
    Circuit Breaker Testing – Insulation resistance, contact resistance, power factor, breaker timing, SF6 gas analysis, CT testing, high current testing, secondary injection testing, and vacuum bottle integrity testing.
  • Test both electrical-mechanical and solid-state relays.
  • Participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.
  • Plan, participate in, and develop safety meetings and training.
  • Support management in the planning, scheduling, execution, and cost management of field projects.
  • The above list is not exhaustive; other duties may be assigned as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Familiar with industry standards such as NETA, NFPA 70E, OSHA compliance standards, safety laws, and DOT regulations.
  • Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong PC skills including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with good judgment.
  • Doble DTAF and Power DB knowledge is preferred; training will be provided.
  • Demonstrated punctuality for daily work assignments, meetings, training, etc.
  • Demonstrates organizational skills including on-time reporting of time and expenses, weekly status reports, and other documentation.
  • Maintains tools, test equipment, and vehicles in clean and organized condition and up to date with service and calibrations.
Work Environment
  • Must be willing to relocate within 60 miles of the hiring regional office.
  • Corporate hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm; hours outside of standard hours may be required depending on scope of work.
  • Work near live electrical substations with safety considerations.
  • Overtime including nights, weekends, and some holidays may be required.
  • Travel on overnight, multi-day, out-of-town projects is required.
  • Rotate emergency on-call duties and respond to customer emergencies promptly.
Education And Work Experience
  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology, or Military experience is preferred but not required.
  • At least 10 years of experience in electrical substation testing, construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, assembly, and commissioning.
  • Ability to achieve NETA level III or IV within 6 months of employment.
  • Project management experience and ability to support management in planning, scheduling, execution and cost management of field projects.
Other Requirements
  • Must pass pre-employment criminal background check and motor vehicle check.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol test, and periodic random testing.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to obtain an endorsement to operate a combined vehicle weight up to 26k lbs.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver at least 50 lbs.
  • Willing to obtain company-paid TWIC card, OSHA 10/30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70E, and CPR training.
