ASHLAND POLICE DEPARTMENT - Certified Police Officers
APPLICATION PROCESSPatrol Operations – Detective - Bicycle Patrol - DARE - School Resource Officer - Range Officer - Field Training Officer - Honor Guard - Court Liaison Officer - SWAT
PAY AND BENEFITS- Starting salary minimum $23.37 per hour; adjustable for Kentucky law enforcement experience
- $850 annual clothing allowance
- $4300/year KLEFPF Fund
- 3 vacation weeks after 1-year probation
- 11 Paid holidays + 1 additional day for birthday
- 1 sick day per month (accumulated 120 days)
- Yearly sick time buy-back program at ½ rate available for employees not using sick leave beyond 120 days
- Full uniform issued upon employment
- Duty weapon provided

- Take home vehicle within 15 miles
- 12-hour work schedule with 8 hours built in overtime

- $35 copay on office visits, Deductible $1500 per person individual/$3000 for family, Maximum Out of Pocket expense (in network) $4,000 per person individual/ $8000 family effective 30 days after employment
- Dental coverage $1500 per person per year maximum
- Citizen of the United States
- Meet qualifications in City of Ashland Ordinance #116, 2024
- Must be 21 years of age
- High school graduate or GED
- Valid driver’s license
- No prior felony
- Kentucky Law Enforcement Certification in good standing
- Graduation from a Kentucky Law Enforcement Council approved academy within the Commonwealth of Kentucky
- Retired Kentucky peace officers regaining employment with approval from County Employees Retirement System along with contractual requirements under KRS 95.022
- Non-retired officers agree to 3-year employment agreement
