JOB SUMMARY

The Facilities Attendant provides cleaning services to provide a safe, sanitary, comfortable and homelike environment for residents, staff and public. Handles, folds, sorts, processes and transports laundry and linen throughout the facility so that sufficient supplies are available to meet resident needs. Services provided are in accord with facility policies and procedures and consistent with state and federal laws and regulations to maintain an environment that enhances the quality of life for residents.

DUTIES

AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
  • Cleans (dusts, dry mops, wet mops, sanitizes, scrubs, vacuums) assigned resident rooms, bathrooms and common areas daily according to facility policies. Cleans walls, ceilings, windows, mirrors, waxes floors, vacuums and shampoos carpets according to department procedures and cleaning schedules.
  • Sorts soiled laundry according to departmental procedures for handling linen and for infection control. Loads appropriate amount of laundry into washing machine. Adds correct amount of detergent. Maintains separation between soiled and clean laundry.
  • Follow facility procedures to ensure that personal laundry is always returned is always returned, without damage from the laundry process, to the correct owner.
  • Respects Residents’ privacy and preferences about room arrangement and personal items. Knocks before entering resident rooms and bathrooms
  • Takes appropriate actions to secure housekeeping supplies out of reach of residents at all times.
  • Disposes of trash and waste, including bio-hazardous waste and other materials that require special handling, in accord with facility policies.
  • Posts signs indicating a safety hazard any time that housekeeping activities pose environmental hazards to staff, residents or visitors.
  • Uses personal protective equipment when at risk of exposure to blood or other potentially hazardous body fluids and all other times as indicated by facility policies.
  • Works any shift necessary for the adequate coverage of the department and additional hours if needed
EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum requirement:
    • Successful completion of Wonderlic Cognitive Ability Assessment.

Examples of these stresses include, but are not limited to: shift rotation, weekend and holiday duty, unusual or impaired behavior by residents, family reactions to having a loved one in the nursing home, death, and dying, oversight of state surveyors, ombudsmen and federal officials, presence of consultants and attorneys, and variable involvement of medical staff.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The team member frequently is required to stand and walk. The team member is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasional physical effort with light to medium objects. Occasionally required to lift objects of 10 to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.

Frequent physical effort with light to medium objects. Occasionally required to lift or push objects of 40 pounds or more.
