Overview

The Production Manager will oversee the day-to-day activities of target manufacturing activities to meet daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly deadlines and provide leadership for the shift supervisors and associates within the value stream. The Production Manager will drive the lean process to maximize profitable growth, provide premier customer service, develop a technically qualified workforce, reduce operating costs and inventories through incremental and quantum continuous improvements.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Lean initiatives within the designated work cell. Work closely with plant-level management on Lean process projects using lean tools and metrics. Help develop a Lean Strategy to be implemented plant-wide. Participate in FIT and continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement techniques.
  • Drive Lean Management – including Tier Meetings, Supervisor Standard Work, Accountability Boards, and overall process discipline.
  • Hire and develop associates, manage budget planning, employment decisions, and performance assessment of shop floor associates.
  • Operate as part of a Leadership Team responsible for running the factory to specific KPIs and improvement activities.
  • Promote and ensure a safe and environmentally compliant work environment.
  • Directly manage the departmental cell and cooperate with other functional managers/supervisors/leaders to optimize the entire value stream.
  • Implement MS168 and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Understand the current culture by reviewing existing policies and procedures, and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provide direction to Supervisors and development of the workforce. Install structure and discipline relative to start/stop times and break times, and other fixed non-productive needs; for example, vacuum times and upgrading supervision floor presence.
  • Lead and oversee all aspects of the production process to ensure safety, quality, and productivity goals are consistently met.
Qualifications
  • Education: HS Diploma with 8+ years’ experience OR Engineering Degree with 2 years’ experience OR Non-Engineering Degree with 4 years’ experience.
  • Experience: 1 year of previous supervisor or management experience required.
  • Other Skills: Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills; problem analysis and problem solving; ability to organize, plan, and execute; experience in implementing Lean; hands-on production experience; proven leadership or potential to develop; excellent verbal and written communication; ability to use Microsoft Office and SAP; ability to interact with all levels of the organization; labor relations and negotiation skills; knowledge of Lean Six Sigma.
