Occupational Therapy Assistant (Healthcare)
Treat patients as directed by the Occupational Therapist. Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes per OT Board requirements. Treat patients according to the physician treatment plan. Assist the nursing department with training Restorative Aides. Communicate with supervisors and other health team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans. Participate in in-service training programs for staff. Record evaluations, treatment notes, progress notes, recertification documentation, in compliance with Occupational Therapy Board regulations and third-party payer requirements.
Record treatment changes as per policies and procedures. Instruct patients’ families or nursing staff in maintenance and caregiver training in preparation for discharge. Participate in discharge planning. Assist with cleaning and maintenance of the treatment area. Report equipment issues for proper maintenance. Demonstrate the ability to relate positively and effectively with patients/residents, families, staff, and colleagues.
This position is not supervisory.
Qualifications- Licensed as a Staff Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state.
- Proficient in computer skills, including programs like Casamba and Point Click Care.
- Ability to read technical procedures and policy manuals.
- Effective communication skills with managers, coworkers, and families.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Problem-solving and interpretative skills for practical situations and instructions.
- Maintains a valid license and continues education as required by the state.
Requires frequent standing/walking, occasional sitting, frequent reaching, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing, and frequent tasting/smelling. Capable of exerting significant force occasionally and frequently. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Good vision and focus adjustment are necessary.
