Job DescriptionAllied Universal is hiring a Vice President, Engineering and Technology. The Vice President will be a strategic and operational leader responsible for the vision, development, and execution of the company's engineering and technology roadmap. The Vice President of Technology and Engineering oversees pre-sales Solution Architecture, post-sales Solution Engineering, Estimating, and the Configure, Price, and Quote (CPQ) platform. This role leads a matrixed, decentralized team of regional engineering managers and vertical-market engineering groups.
The Vice President will have strong executive presence, cross-functional leadership, and a passion for emerging technology and innovation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership and Strategy- Define and execute the company's technology strategy and roadmap while refining engineering standards, processes, and best practices for scalable, high-quality, cost-effective delivery
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Operations, IT, and Business Unit leaders to drive go-to-market strategy, solution design, and execution
- Build and sustain engineering talent through career pathing, mentorship, and training and development programs
- Chair the Technology Evaluation Committee to assess and adopt new technologies, vendors, platforms, and methodologies; monitor industry trends to identify and evaluate emerging innovation
- Represent the company externally through industry events, trade shows, and publications, while partnering with Marketing and Sales to support demand generation via showcases, articles, and executive briefings
- Oversee pre-sales Solution Architects and post-sales Engineering teams, driving alignment on customer requirements, scalable solution design, and consistent delivery practices across a decentralized organization
- Lead the Estimating function, refining processes, pricing models, and labor methodologies; manage and optimize CPQ tools in line with sales strategy and engineering input
- Align regional managers and sector-specific engineering leads to support scalable delivery and technical consistency across the business
- Maintain and expand expertise in low-voltage electronic security systems: intrusion detection, video surveillance, access control, life safety systems, sensors, edge devices, networking, and transmission systems
- Ensure engineering teams are trained and compliant with current and emerging standards, codes, and best practices
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Information Technology, or related field of study
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in engineering or technical leadership roles within the physical electronic security, life safety, Smart Building, BIoT, Prop Tech, or low-voltage systems integration industry
- Minimum of ten (10) years of direct engineering leadership experience, including management of cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams
- Experience in global operations or projects involving multinational clients
- Visionary leadership with a bias for innovation and execution, and the ability to navigate ambiguity in fast-paced, evolving environments
- Strong business acumen and understanding of financial drivers in project-based services
- Demonstrated experience in CPQ applications, CAD, BIM, pre and post-sales engineering, and large-scale solution architecture
- Proven record of technology evaluation, adoption, implementation, and roadmap development in a complex integration or systems-based business
- Strong understanding of field services operations and experience working in a matrixed, decentralized environment, with a collaborative mindset and ability to lead across functions
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills at all levels of the organization, with executive presence and exceptional presentation and public speaking abilities
- Technical acumen with knowledge of electronic security systems, IP networking, sensors, and integrated platforms
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel up to 30% annually
- Master's degrees in engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
- Professional certifications (e.g., CPP, PSP, RCDD, NICET, PMP, CompTIA)
