Overview
As an Industrial Process Engineer at our Virginia Manufacturing Facility, you will take ownership of high-stakes projects from day one. You will be a key part of our engineering team and grow your skills while working collaboratively to design process for high-volume manufacturability. The best-in-class processes you develop will help to maintain our position as the leading manufacturer of smart lighting and shading systems.

You will be responsible for all phases of the design process, including:
- Generating detailed designs for review
- Developing and implementing changes to the layout of operations for improved efficiency
- Conducting analysis through prototyping, testing and qualification
- Ensuring designs are suited for high-volume manufacturability
- Leverage time studies and process simulation to define, measure and validate performance improvements to the production line
As an Industrial Process Engineer you will be focused on driving improvements in the processes used in the warehouse, shipping and receiving functions of the facility. This includes:
- Designing and implementing changes to the layout of the areas to improve safety, quality and efficiency of motion
- Design and implementation of new equipment to enhance the safety of operations through improvements in ergonomics and management of Powered Industrial Equipment and Human interaction
- Engaging with teams across the facility to identify areas of process improvement and identify the tools to improve performance
- Creation of key performance indicators to measure the performance of processes
We seek talented, success-minded people with the desire and ability to make things happen. Our baseline requirements are simple:
- You are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering
- Minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.00 for each degree earned
- Creo 3D CAD Modeling or equivalent experience preferred
- CAD Layout Management Software (such as AutoCAD) experience preferred
- Experience working on tooling and processes for warehousing operations is a benefit
- 0 - 3 years’ experience in a related field
- Willingness to travel – examples include visiting other facilities and vendors to see equipment and share best practices
- You are authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require Lutron to sponsor you for any work visa, such as an H-1B, either immediately or at any time in the future. Lutron does not offer work visa sponsorship for any Industrial Engineer related positions.
