About the Role
Executive Housekeeper – Reports to Facilities Manager / General Manager. The Senior Housekeeping Officer will oversee all housekeeping duties, ensuring that rooms, suites and public spaces remain fresh, welcoming and meet the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. The role requires strong leadership, effective communication and a focus on guest experience, cost control, and quality compliance.
Responsibilities- Send a daily end‑of‑day activity and accomplishment email to the General Manager and copy the Opal Director of Operations.
- Use the property management system, facilities management software (Logistics) and labor management system (ADP) with proficiency.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of all hotel operating procedures and enforce all policies and procedures with housekeeping, laundry and engineering staff.
- Ensure proper staffing levels in all areas and conduct regular performance reviews of staff.
- Read front‑desk communication logs daily and monitor staff appearance and compliance with the uniform policy.
- Conduct daily huddles, attend weekly departmental meetings and hold individual meetings as needed.
- Supervise delegated responsibilities, follow up, and exhibit strong leadership skills.
- Perform regular inventory of housekeeping and laundry supplies; order, check, and maintain supplies at par standards.
- Inform the Facilities Manager/General Manager of any unique situations or unusual developments in operations.
- Handle guest complaints effectively and maintain a courteous, friendly, and helpful demeanor toward guests, managers and associates.
- Be willing and able to work any shift, including weekends and holidays, and fill in when other employees are unavailable.
- Complete weekly schedules for housekeeping and laundry staff according to standard operating procedures.
- Understand the Chart of Accounts to code invoices for housekeeping and laundry.
- Remain knowledgeable of room types, supplies standards and open/close rooms for engineering work orders and preventative maintenance.
- Maintain, review, and assign all brand training requirements; review and implement newly introduced or updated Opal and/or brand standards.
- Train, mentor, and coach housekeeping staff to improve performance; create performance and development goals.
- Recommend or initiate HR-related actions as needed.
- Serve as manager on duty when required and conduct any other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or higher-level education.
- Minimum 2 years of housekeeping or similar experience, with 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
- Fluent in English (Spanish preferred).
- Strong leadership, self‑motivation and team‑building abilities.
- Flexibility to work 45+ hours per week (minimum 5 days per week).
- Ability to occasionally lift, push, or pull items up to 50 pounds.
- Excellent communication skills; a good listener.
- Friendly, courteous, and professional appearance.
- Willingness to work weekends and holidays when required.
