Overview
Join Pitney Bowes as a CDL A Truck Driver Floater, 1st Shift (Ashland, VA) role in the Ashland, Virginia Presort facility. Your hourly pay will be $29
, paid weekly with the opportunity for overtime.
The Floater Truck Driver covers other routes due to PTO or planned vacation time. The schedule could be any of the following:
- 1:00AM – 2:00PM (Monday Only)
- 3:00AM – 2:00PM (Monday Only)
- 5:30AM – 1:00PM (Monday - Friday)
- 7:00AM – 5:30PM (Monday - Friday)
- 8:30AM – 5:30PM (Monday - Friday)
- 8:45AM – 5:00PM (Monday - Friday)
- 10:30AM – 6:30PM (Monday - Friday)
- 11:00AM – 7:00PM (Monday - Friday)
- 8:00PM – 3:00AM (Monday - Friday)
- 8:00PM – 8:00AM (Monday - Friday)
- Local Deliveries, Pick-Ups, and Daily Home Time

- Verify physical container counts, match counts on pickup slips.
- Inspect assigned vehicles by Pitney Bowes pre-trip inspection guidelines and procedures daily. Report any defective findings in Samsara and to the Transportation Manager to be fixed immediately.
- Maintain a daily driver’s log or route sheet for mileage, stops and cargo, or utilization of Samsara system.
- Maintain pickup and delivery schedules meeting deadlines utilizing software tools.
- Know and understand safety and security precautions and follow company policies and keep vehicle clean.
- Ensure the mail is reviewed for proper dates and a pickup slip is attached with each order prior to loading on the truck.
- Ensure USPS equipment is used only for the movement of Live mail.
- Return client damaged or undeliverable mail, following internal handling procedures for damaged secured mail.
- Use all required cell phone applications.
- Keep work area clean by ensuring mail bins are stored properly, load straps are off floor to prevent tripping hazards, and sweeping the floors between assigned pickups or deliveries, and all other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate safety and security precautions and follow company policies.
- Minimum 21 years of age.
- Ability to drive a Tractor Trailer and Straight Trucks.
- Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license in the state where the driver resides (CDL Class
A) and meet applicable DOT requirements for CDL. - Minimum of 6 months’ verifiable driving experience with a Tractor Trailer and Straight Trucks with safe driving record.
- Candidates must have a basic enough understanding of English to be able to understand and follow safety and other operational directions communicated in English, irrespective of their native language.
- Ability to read a map and understand directions.
- Ability to understand and become knowledgeable with USPS regulations and managing standards.
- Ability to learn, understand and become knowledgeable with United States Postal Service regulations and managing standards.
- Must have the ability to work mandatory overtime that may include weekends, holidays and or a different shift with little or no advance notice.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs., walk, stand, stoop, and bend with or without accommodations.
