Job Description – Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing nuclear medicine procedures at a technical level with minimal supervision, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with all safety regulations. This role includes collaborating with physicians and healthcare professionals, training staff, and maintaining high standards of patient care and radiation safety.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform and produce nuclear medicine scans (organ imaging, function studies, bone scans, etc.).
• Prepare, calibrate, and administer radiopharmaceuticals under physician supervision.
• Ensure radiation safety compliance per state, NRC, and JCAHO standards.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate nuclear medicine equipment.
• Maintain accurate patient records, quality control logs, and radiation safety documentation.
• Position and transfer patients safely; provide necessary immobilization devices.
• Archive studies in PACS and maintain orderly workflow in the department.
• Participate in policy reviews, protocol updates, and continuous improvement activities.
• Train and mentor new staff members in equipment usage and departmental operations.
• Support hospital initiatives including disaster preparedness, patient safety, and customer service standards.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Graduate of an approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
• Registered or registry eligible with NMTCB or ARRT(N).
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
