We’re hiring Engineering Technicians | Construction Inspectors (primarily W/WW treatment plants and water main projects) – all experience levels!
CTL Engineering () is an award winning, full service consulting engineering firm with 15 locations across OH, IN, WV, KY, VA, NC, and SC and a rich history of 98 years in business. We provide civil/site design and land surveying, environmental, geotechnical, construction administration & inspection, accident reconstruction, roofing/building envelope, A/V system design, troubleshooting and installation, and specialized testing services to the construction industry.
We are looking for all experience levels of Engineering Technicians | Construction Inspectors who will play a key role in our Construction Administration/Construction Inspection division. Ongoing mentoring and training will be provided based on your experience level, with opportunities for increasing responsibility if that is your career trajectory and interest.
Highlights- Project types will focus primarily on Water/Wastewater plants and water main projects (repairs, installations) in the Ashtabula/northeast Ohio region.
- A company truck can be provided or you can use your personal vehicle and receive a reimbursement.
- The typical schedule is Monday-Friday – day shift typically (7am-5pm). If bad weather affects the timeline, some Saturdays may be needed. Night time work may occur occasionally but we strive to give as much advance notice as possible.
- This is year-round work since work is below the frost line.
- Perform construction engineering technician and inspection services primarily involving concrete testing, rebar inspection, and other building materials for W/WW plant construction projects and overseeing utility location, digging, and water main installations/connections and repairs for municipal clients.
- Test, inspect, and report on specific aspects of construction works in progress, such as concrete pours, rebar placement, utility location, vertical and horizontal digging.
- Inspections to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans, and proposals for construction work.
- Notify the Contractor or the Project Engineer of non‑conforming work.
- Inspect and sample construction materials, perform computations with formulas, plot data, and draw simple curves and graphs.
- Assist Engineers in the field during soil and materials investigations.
- Ensure that job site tests/observations, including quality control, quality assurance, and verifications are performed in accordance with the standard test/observation methods, project specifications and other contract documents.
- Prepare and maintain project records and reports.
- Knowledge of engineering, construction, testing and inspection principles is a strong plus.
- Knowledge of materials testing – standard testing and observation methods – is a plus.
- Understanding of construction or engineering principles.
- Ability to perform quality control initiatives and testing with lab reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work independently and provide status updates.
- Ability to work in external environment conditions during difficult weather.
- High School, Technical School, Community College, or Bachelor’s degree (Construction Management or Civil Engineering) graduate.

- ACI Grade I Concrete Testing Technician (preferred but not required).
- Primary work location is in the field and will require candidate to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to safely perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
