AboutThe Role
In this role, you will manage all facets of customer relationships to ensure that defined and agreed‑to customer needs are met. You will act as the direct liaison between external customers and Commercial, Credit, and Transportation/Warehousing personnel. You will manage more complex accounts, which may include export, import, and consignment accounts, and provide guidance to less experienced customer service representatives for complex items.
All activities will comply with customs and transportation guidelines aligned with the country of destination.
- Relevant BS or BA degree desired or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience in export customer service function, manufacturing‑oriented preferred, with knowledge of customs and shipping documentation requirements.
- Proficiency in SAP or comparable software system desired.
- Demonstrated ability to perform detail‑oriented functions, with strong communication and export documentation skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to interact clearly and efficiently with customers, freight forwarders, shippers, and internal business functions.
- Strong dedication to meeting internal and external customer expectations while maintaining effective relationships.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer literacy – basic knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to work with multi‑disciplinary teams and across different locations.
- Knowledge and experience in a manufacturing environment or other technical industry.
- Quick learner with a can‑do attitude.
Job Responsibilities
- Process the most complex customer orders, inquiries, and complaints with deep expertise.
- Maintain ongoing relationships with key customers and commercial staff.
- Utilize knowledge of products, product availability, sales territories, and individual customers to provide a communication link to customers.
- Record and process orders and inquiries received by fax, telephone, and electronic mail.
- Provide pricing, availability, and schedule information within established guidelines.
- Work with freight forwarders to schedule shipments by ocean vessel to meet customer requirements.
- Provide accurate and timely export filings (LCs) and customer documentation.
- Research and resolve customer issues.
- Serve as the communications link between customers and sales staff to assure responsiveness.
- Provide guidance and assistance to new and less experienced staff.
