Position Summary
This is a 9-month full-time faculty position in the Nursing Department, Berman School of Nursing and Health Professions ( SNHP ), with responsibilities for teaching, student advising and mentoring, course development, service to the school, department, and university, and continued scholarship in the field. Teaching responsibilities include 24-30 contact hours per academic year, commensurate with rank, including but not limited to simulation, theory, and/or clinical experience hours.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, student recruitment, retention, and placement efforts; program assessment; and engagement in the life of the university. The faculty member, Adult Health Nursing fulfills all responsibilities of a full-time faculty member as defined in the Stevenson University Policies and the SNHP Full-Time Faculty Job Description. Rank and title are determined at the time of hire and will be commensurate with education and experience.
Education/Experience
Doctorate degree in nursing (PhD or DNP ) or a related field and a Master’s degree in nursing required for the rank of Assistant Professor or higher. Master’s degree in nursing required for the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. Doctoral degree or progress towards a doctorate degree strongly preferred. College level teaching experience, recent clinical nursing experience, and at least two years of experience in Adult Health/Medical/Surgical nursing are preferred.
Strong command of pathophysiology and pharmacology preferred. Acute Care Clinical Nurse Specialist, Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult, Adult/Gerontology, or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification preferred. Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) or certification in area of clinical practice specialty area strongly preferred. Must hold an unencumbered license as registered nurse (RN) by the Maryland Board of Nursing, or licensure with multi-state practice privilege in another state, or be eligible to obtain or Advanced Practice RN licensure by the Maryland Board of Nursing.
Certification by the American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

- Ability to use classroom and learning management technologies (e.g., Black Board).
- Ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds learning styles, and to practice inclusive pedagogy.
- Demonstrated student-centered approach to teaching, and a commitment to student achievement.
- Commitment to advising, mentoring and guiding students and supervising student scholarly activity.
- Ability to work effectively independently and as a team member.
- Excellent organizational, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.

- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Database management and other computer skills are valued.
- Experience working with Black Board or a similar learning management platform preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed, and to travel between campuses as needed.
Physical Requirements
Medium work: exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
