Position: Production Shift Manager (Night Shift)

MGP Ingredients is a leading supplier of premium distilled spirits and food ingredient solutions. Its Distilling Solutions segment provides bourbons, whiskeys, ryes, gins, and vodkas to craft and multinational brands. MGP s own Branded Spirits business is growing following acquisitions and represents a diverse portfolio across distillery, ingredient, and brand operations. The Production Shift plays a critical role in the day-to-day operations of our Distillery, Food Ingredient Operation and Warehouse, ensuring safe and reliable operations.

Shift Managers provide leadership and guidance to hourly employees while coordinating with production managers on plant performance.

Responsibilities
  • Directly manage crews of 10-15 hourly employees to achieve maximum production of top quality products in a safe and efficient manner. Indirectly responsible for managing up to 40-50 employees at any given time.
  • Plan and organize daily shift activities, determine manpower requirements and utilization to meet or exceed goals. Responsible for scheduling of hourly employees.
  • Conduct annual detailed performance reviews with hourly employees, emphasizing required standards; reviews will be written and maintained in the employee s personnel file. Counsel subordinates.
  • Set objectives for crew; communicate company plans, objectives and expectations to hourly employees. Issue instructions and ensure resources are available to accomplish them. Possess strong communication skills and ability to achieve results through others.
  • Train management and hourly employees on equipment, equipment operation and processes.
  • Accountable for continuous improvement of plant performance, safety, environmental and product quality objectives.
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs to shoulder height occasionally
  • Physical mobility: extensive walking, climbing, stairs, kneeling, stooping, sitting up to 100% of working hours
  • Standing for extended periods of time; occasional long shifts up to 6 hours
  • Physical dexterity: use of telephone, computer, electronic equipment, tools, machinery requiring precision
  • Occasional driving of a vehicle
  • Sensory requirements: hearing, listening, smelling, touching, speaking, tasting, seeing, distinguishing colors up to 100% of working hours
  • Stationary work at a computer terminal or keyboard up to 6 hours per day
  • May be exposed to high heat and cold up to 100% of working hours
Qualifications And Skills
  • Associate s Degree with concentration in manufacturing preferred. Equivalent experience in manufacturing or related environment will be considered. Significant Distillery and/or Food Processing operations experience preferred.
  • 2 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience with SEMS, Process Safety Management and ERP/SAP preferred.
  • Strong leadership, coaching and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Personal computer skills including Microsoft Office; ability to learn company-specific software programs
  • Good troubleshooting skills
