Medical Laboratory Assistant

Enhance your career as a Medical Laboratory Assistant I within the Athabasca Health Centre. This role focuses on specimen collection, blood drawing, ECGs, and supporting laboratory operations efficiently.

The successful candidate will perform vital tasks including collecting and processing blood specimens with macro and micro phlebotomy techniques. Accurate data entry into the EPIC system and effective specimen transport is critical. You’ll also troubleshoot issues and conduct crucial reception duties to ensure exceptional service and smooth laboratory workflow.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect blood specimens using various phlebotomy techniques

• Perform and record ECG procedures for patients

• Enter patient information accurately into the laboratory EPIC system

• Process and transport specimens efficiently and accurately

• Handle troubleshooting of problem specimens and reception tasks

Requirements:

• Completion of accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program

• Recent experience in phlebotomy and ECGs preferred

• Knowledge of urinalysis and EPIC software desired

• High school diploma may be considered

• Successful criminal record check required
