Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist - Manufacturing - 2nd Shift
Role Overview The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist supports plant-wide safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role plays a hands-on part in OSHA compliance, incident investigation, training, audits, and continuous safety improvement to protect team members and ensure operational excellence.
This position is ideal for an EHS professional who thrives in a dynamic, on-the-floor environment - actively addressing safety challenges and implementing practical solutions - while ensuring accurate recordkeeping for compliance.
2nd Shift
Hours:
7p - 3:45a
- Support compliance with OSHA and all applicable federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs, policies, and procedures
- Monitor plant conditions and practices to ensure regulatory and company compliance
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety and environmental inspections
- Identify hazards, compliance gaps, and improvement opportunities
- Support internal and external audits, including regulatory agency inspections
- Track and post required regulatory information and safety KPIs throughout the plant
- Maintain and deliver EHS training for new hires, contractors, and visitors
- Provide ongoing safety coaching for team members and leadership
- Develop weekly safety talks and support regular safety walks
- Lead or support incident and accident investigations
- Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Assist with workers' compensation claims, injury investigations, and return-to-work coordination
- Maintain CPR/AED, first aid, and blood-borne pathogen certifications
- Support ergonomic assessments and improvements during process changes or new equipment launches
- Assist departments with practical safety solutions that improve efficiency and reduce risk
- Partner with Group Leaders on safety concerns, recommendations, and corrective actions
- Serve as liaison with insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and safety providers when needed
- Escalate issues appropriately to ensure safety and performance targets are met
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
- Equivalent education and experience may be considered
- 2 to 4 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state safety regulations
- Understanding of industrial safety practices, environmental compliance, and ergonomic principles
- Experience with incident investigations and corrective action implementation
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Hands-on problem solver who responds well to urgent issues
- Ability to create clear, concise reports and training materials
- Maintains confidentiality and demonstrates sound judgment
- English (written and verbal) required
- Japanese language skills are a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and standard computer applications
Physical Requirements
- Combination of office and manufacturing plant environment
- PPE such as safety glasses and steel-toe shoes required in plant areas
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, climb ladders, and use hand tools
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- Travel up to 10% as needed
