The Design & Manufacturing Engineer will support tooling design, CNC programming, product development, manufacturing processes, and new project execution. We are looking for a well-rounded engineer who enjoys solving problems, designing practical manufacturing solutions, and working closely with production personnel to turn concepts into finished products. This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, from designing aluminum castings and production tooling to programming CNC equipment, improving manufacturing processes, and supporting new product launches.
The role will generally consist of:
- 75% Technical Engineering: 3D CAD modeling (Solid Works), pattern and tooling design, CNC fixture and work holding design, CAM programming (SolidCAM), CNC machining process development, and related engineering activities.
- 25% – Engineering Support & Development: Product development, design for manufacturability (DFM), project management, technical quoting, production support, and continuous improvement initiatives.
These responsibilities will vary based on project requirements and organizational needs.
Key Responsibilities Design, Engineering & Tooling Development- Develop 3D models and designs of aluminum castings, patterns, core boxes, fixtures, and other manufactured products using Solid Works.
- Design production tooling, machining fixtures, work holding solutions, and related manufacturing equipment.
- Create detailed 2D engineering drawings, bills of materials, and manufacturing documentation.
- Develop practical tooling and manufacturing solutions that improve efficiency, repeatability, and quality.
- Work closely with our in-house pattern and tooling shop to manufacture and implement new designs.
- Develop and optimize CNC programs using SolidCAM for machining aluminum castings, tooling, fixtures, and other components.
- Primarily support 3-axis CNC machining, with opportunities for more advanced programming.
- Establish machining strategies, tooling selections, setups, and work holding methods.
- Identify opportunities to reduce cycle times, improve tool life, and increase machining efficiency.
- Troubleshoot existing programs and machining processes in collaboration with CNC operators and production personnel.
- Support new product development from initial concept through tooling, first articles, and production.
- Collaborate with engineering, sales, tooling, and production teams to execute new manufacturing projects.
