Overview
The nurse practitioner provides comprehensive direct patient care and scholarly practice, including obtaining patient histories, performing physical examinations, ordering and performing diagnostic tests, diagnosing illnesses, prescribing treatments, and providing health education and promotion. Additionally, the NP supports indirect care responsibilities such as staff and student education, clinical research, program development, and quality improvement.
QualificationsCompletion of a Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution. Successful completion of a national certification exam for NPs. Current registration with the Alabama Board of Nursing and the Board of Medical Examiners. Approval by the Athens-Limestone Hospital credentialing board. Preferably, 3 years of clinical experience and 2 years of post-master's experience.
