General PurposeThe Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership team, responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store and for general operations and supervision when functioning as Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, maintaining a friendly and easy‑to‑shop environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and maintaining a clean work area.
Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments- Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment for everyone. Immediately correct or report any unsafe conditions or practices.
- Secure the building, including entrance/exit control, electronic article surveillance check, cash office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area.
- Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
- Ensure customer safety, including accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
- Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
- Treat all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times; recognize associates using company recognition programs.
- Represent and support the company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance, per the company dress code, and ensure all associates adhere to it.
- Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Responsible for daily trash removal.
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and following up per best practice.
- Responsible for receiving merchandise truck when needed.
- Process all merchandise with a sense of urgency.
- Receive all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries (signs, supplies, special deliveries, etc.).
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms.
- Assist in delivering and placing merchandise on the sales floor when processed.
- Ensure any back‑stock is secured and processed per company policy.
- Merchandize the department, including the back stock.
- Reduce loss due to damage.
- Ensure compliance with monthly presentation guidelines in the assigned area.
- Handle floor moves and signing, including promotional signing, as needed.
- Perform re‑wraps as required.
- Understand and comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintain a strong customer service presence on the sales floor.
- Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions; safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.

- Conduct “Code 50” package inspections.
