Administrative Specialist - SW District, UGA Extension

Position within the UGA Cooperative Extension’s Southwest District. This lead administrative support role serves as office manager, interprets written policies, and handles highly confidential matters. Duties include hiring and termination processes, employee contracts, incident reports, promotion processes, performance reviews, database creation and maintenance, report writing, and coordination with the District Extension Director.

Position Summary: This is the lead administrative support position for the Southwest District of UGA Cooperative Extension. It performs administrative and support duties with wide latitude for exercising discretion and judgement. It serves as office manager and frequently interprets written policies and procedures and explains them to others. It often deals with highly confidential issues and uses discretion effectively.

Competencies:

  • Working knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to use discretion with confidential information.
  • Independent judgement and ability to work under extremely limited supervision.
  • Supervisory skills.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.

Duties/Responsibilities: The role is responsible for:

  • Employee hiring and termination process, employee contracts, serious incidents reports, promotion process, annual performance reviews on all employees, keeping all matters confidential (50% of time).
  • Assisting administrators with programs, often using full educational program knowledge (25% of time).
  • Creating and maintaining databases, writing, editing, and coordinating reports and other related duties as assigned by the District Extension Director.
