Athens Area, Georgia
Responsibilities- Oversee projects from initial studies, pricing, concept preparation, programming, design, construction to closeout/warranty, including alteration/repair and new building construction.
- Conduct on-site visits, meetings with Owner, Architect, and Contractor, and oversee general project management.
- Professional communication with USG Board of Regents staff, university and athletic department leadership, design professionals, contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders, including oral, written communication and presentation materials.
- Provide direction to design professionals and contractors on all facets of the project, evaluate vendor and consultant proposals, negotiate services and costs, and prepare program, design and construction documents.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 5 years of professional experience. - Preferred:
Baccalaureate degree in architecture or related field; experience in planning, design, construction, and/or project management of renovation and construction projects at a college/university or similar setting.
- Knowledge of applicable building codes and regulatory agency guidelines as well as construction methods and construction administration.
- Effective communication and ability to establish and maintain working relationships with university faculty and administrative personnel.
- Project Management including management of design professionals and contractors.
- Basic understanding and fluency in Microsoft Windows operating system and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency with graphics and presentation-oriented software common in the design, architecture and engineering industries, including Adobe Acrobat, Auto CAD, Sketchup, and similar products.
- Sedentary desk work for computer related and administrative tasks.
- Regular on-site inspections involving walking through active construction sites.
- Travel to active construction sites which may involve some overnight stays.
- Lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
- Driving to perform job related duties.
Driving is required; overnight stays may be necessary for on-site inspections. No P-Card requirement.
