Public Relations Specialist
Position Summary:
The Public Relations Specialist supports the Communications Director in shaping and delivering strategic messages for Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. The role contributes to integrated communication efforts across print, broadcast, digital, web, social media and multimedia platforms, elevating the College’s visibility.
- Strategic Content Creation, Digital Communication & Media Engagement (65%):
Plan, develop, produce written and visual content for web, digital platforms, press releases, feature stories. Manage internal communication channels and social media presence. Produce multimedia assets and host research-focused podcast. - Stakeholder Collaboration, Strategic Planning & Event Communications (25%):
Partner with internal stakeholders to advance communication goals. Assist in planning and coordinating College events. Collaborate with Communications Director on communication plans. - Internship Oversight & Professional Development Support (10%):
Assist in training, supervising, and mentoring communications interns.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated excellence in writing and storytelling across print, visual, audio, and video formats.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Working knowledge of graphic design, videography, audio production and photography.
- Proficiency in AP Style.
- Strong social media capabilities and analytics.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and Word Press or similar CMS.
- Sitting and Typing:
Frequent sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods. - Standing and Walking:
Occasional standing and walking during event coverage. - Lifting/Carrying:
Ability to lift and carry equipment such as cameras, lighting, or promotional materials up to 20 pounds.
